3023StoragePost
This is the end of it… This was the little unit that held all of what was left of my life: 5ftx5ftx8ft with room to spare. 59 years on Earth… and this was ALL. And now even this is gone!

Porsche lied to me, told me that the unit was available. I took the subway out to the site to learn that the unit was NOT available. Porsche phoned me again, and actually confirmed that the unit was available. Again, I took the subway out to the site. Two day’s pay lost. When I contacted Bill Miller, he said he’d cover a month’s rent on the unit (1/4 of my losses. Days later, I had to phone him to remind him of his promise. He didn’t give a shit to begin with. Porcshe is still working for Storage Post. They’re proud of her.

I will never forget her kindness, compassion and wonderful disposition. She kept the building immaculate. She recovered the building after a hurricane. She is truly a “Human-being” and that’s probably why Storage Post got rid of her.

Going through what’s left of my life here, with me, I came across this. It’s a cloth to clean eye-glasses, probably from some point in the mid-1970’s or early 80’s. The place no longer exists, but I still have this little bit of cloth… My “history”.

I received this as change for a purchase in Flushing Queens when I had to go back April to June 2013. Those were the months when I moved from storage unit 4418 to 3023.

First visit to Frelighsburgh QC… I’d walked from Franklin VT on this hot, Summer day. It was SO good to be on HOME ground again!

19 Church Street. A beautiful house that was impossible to heat over the Winter of 2012-2013 but the house in which I published my first book and delighted in listening to the music I’d collected for the iPod as I danced and shoveled snow and ice from the drive. Burton all but deserted me. But he did what he had to do, I did what I had to do, which included walking to the IGA and Home Hardware in Sutton. I wonder how Ira is doing these days.

I can’t believe that I still have this MetroCard! I held on to it because of the message. I had others of this printing and many more with poetry and other graphics… They’re all gone now.
